Edgewater: Underwater (who will be the first to suffer?)

Small Pacific nations like Tuvalu and Kiribas, and island states around the world, will feel the pain of climate change most severely. Indeed, they already are feeling it. Many nations will feel the pain of water shortages; indeed they already are feeling it. Bolivia, for example, as I've written about after recently visiting.

Ordinary people in rich countries are insulated a little from these effects. We can turn up the aircon, our governments can build desalination plants. But inevitably someone is going to be suffering. This protest just over the other side of my suburb (Footscray) is about educating people on these dangers. The rationale for the protest can be read in more detail here. To join the organising, register with the group online at WeCAN.
